The Baking Bit!
They're Vegalicious!
Mmmmm.... Baking......... Chocolate......... Pink cakes......... These are all things I see often when using my pink kitchen utensils. As a complete chocolate maniac, I tend to bake with that the most. Like anything in vegan world, chocolate is completely delicious and can be made into almost anything.. Vegans really don't miss out on anything.
What I love about baking is being inventive and seeing how it turns out. I lick the bowl and spoon like a child when my creation is in the oven and I just love making them look special and extra tasty with desirable toppings. As for being festive, bring it on! Events such as birthdays, Halloween and especially Christmas are just another fantastic excuse to bring out my pink utensils and engaging in my most loved hobby. With birthdays, I try to keep to the theme of their favourite colour and make the cake to suit their personality. Halloween is fun for making something whacky and out-of-the-ordinary like my "ginger and cinnamon blood eyes" or "green witches finger biscuits." Christmas is especially amazing because I love the feel of the festive period. Christmas mince pies are oh-so-delicous and last year, I managed to make a Christmas cake out of ingredients I had stocked in the cupboard! |

The Cooking Bit!Too delish to miss!
I am completely in love with the fact that by feeding a non-vegan a vegan meal, it not only completely surprises them, it squashes that stigma that vegans "live on tofu, lettuce and eat grass" (-yes, seriously, I've had that reaction many a times1)
As you can see from these pictures here, not one of them contain grass or lettuce and very few of them contain tofu. I'm a true believer in recipes being versatile. Where you might not like one flavour or vegetable, swap it for another flavour or vegetable! Also, I am quite firm on the fact that people with food allergies can still be vegan. If you can't have soy cream, use coconut cream. If you can't have nuts, that's fine too. Simply swap those for something else. For instance, if you are a ut allergy sufferer who doesn't like broccoli, your "Broccoli and Cashew Curry" will turn into your "Courgette and Sweetcorn Curry". Or whatever you desire! With cooking, I love improvising and tasting as I go. On the odd occasion, I have no idea what I'm going to make. I simply start with the basics: "do I fancy rice or pasta today?" and "do I want it creamy or do I fancy something low-fat or tomato-based?" Anything else can be added accordingly. My ultimate favourite in the kitchen is pasta. The possibilities with pasta are completely endless. What's your favourite? |
